Frequently Asked Questions
Your questions, answered. Your relocation stress, reduced.
What does Global City Insights do?
Global City Insights provides structured support for people planning international relocations. This includes self-guided Relocation Tools designed to support decision-making at different stages, as well as Guided Relocation Planning — a live, advisory planning service focused on sequencing and execution.
The goal is not to sell a destination, but to help you make decisions that hold up in real life.
What are Relocation Tools?
Relocation Tools are self-guided reports designed to support specific stages of the relocation decision process. Each tool answers a different question — from early exploration, to understanding daily life, to choosing between viable options.
They are designed for people who want clarity without hiring a consultant.
What tools do you offer?
Currently, three Relocation Tools are available:
• The Snapshot Report – A fast reality check to rule out poor fits early
• The Reality Check Report – A closer look at how daily life actually changes after the move
• The Decision Report – A structured comparison to choose between two viable relocation paths (Coming Soon)
Each tool is intentionally scoped to answer a specific decision.
Are these reports personalized?
Yes. All Relocation Tools are personalized based on your current city, relocation city (or cities), and household context.
They are not generic guides or templates.
Do the tools include visa or legal advice?
No. Relocation Tools do not provide legal, immigration, tax, or visa-filing advice. They are designed to support decision-making and expectation-setting, not replace licensed professionals.
Can I use the tools instead of hiring a consultant?
Yes. Many people use Relocation Tools specifically because they want to work through decisions independently or are not ready for live planning support.
Others use the tools first and move into Guided Relocation Planning later once timing and execution matter.
What is Guided Relocation Planning?
Guided Relocation Planning is a structured, three-session advisory service for people who already know where they’re moving and want to make sure the relocation is planned in the right order.
The focus is on sequencing decisions, identifying dependencies, and preparing for real-world execution — not on providing information or concierge services.
Who is Guided Relocation Planning for?
Guided Relocation Planning is best for people who:
• Have a specific destination in mind
• Are planning an international move with real constraints
• Want help sequencing visas, housing, timing, and logistics
• Prefer structured guidance rather than “do-it-for-you” services
Who is it not for?
Guided Relocation Planning is not a good fit if you:
• Are still broadly exploring destinations
• Do not have a timeframe in mind
• Are looking for someone to file visas, book travel, or secure housing
• Want concierge or relocation-agent services
If you’re still exploring, Relocation Tools are usually the better starting point.
What happens in Session 1?
Session 1 is an Alignment & Reality Check session. We review your goals, constraints, assumptions, and timing pressures to determine whether your plan is workable and where it needs adjustment.
Session 1 is intentionally structured as a standalone session.
Do I have to continue after Session 1?
No. Session 1 is a complete service on its own.
Most clients continue into the full Guided Relocation Planning process, but there is no obligation to do so. If you continue, the Session 1 fee is fully credited toward the total price.
What do Sessions 2 and 3 cover?
Sessions 2 and 3 are customized based on your needs and timeline.
They typically focus on:
• Budget and timeline sequencing
• Key milestones and dependencies
• Lived-reality preparation for your destination
Each session includes written follow-up.
Do you file visas, find housing, or arrange movers?
No. Guided Relocation Planning is advisory and planning-focused.
I do not:
• File visas or provide legal representation
• Arrange housing or act as a realtor
• Book travel or transportation
• Manage pet relocation directly
I can help you understand what to look for, what to prioritize, and where sequencing matters — and can help you research and shortlist resources where appropriate.
How do I book a session?
Session 1 can be booked directly through the website. You’ll select a time and pay for the session during booking.
After booking, you’ll receive a short intake form to complete before the session.
Why is there an intake form?
The intake form ensures our time together is focused and productive. It helps surface assumptions, constraints, and timing issues in advance so Session 1 is spent on decision-making — not background gathering.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payments are processed securely through Squarespace Scheduling using Stripe and/or PayPal.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Details are provided at booking, but in general:
• Session 1 may be rescheduled once without penalty
• Cancellations with sufficient notice may be refunded per policy
• Late cancellations or no-shows are not refundable
Policies are designed to protect both your time and mine.
I’m not sure which option is right for me. Where should I start?
A simple guide:
• If you’re still exploring → Relocation Tools
• If you’ve chosen a city and want realism → Reality Check Report
• If you’re choosing between two options → Decision Report
• If you know where you’re moving and timing matters → Guided Relocation Planning
If you’re unsure, starting with a Relocation Tool is usually the lowest-risk option.
What if Guided Relocation Planning isn’t the right fit?
If it becomes clear — based on your intake or Session 1 — that Guided Relocation Planning isn’t the right next step, I’ll tell you and suggest an alternative. The goal is alignment, not upselling.
Relocation is not a single decision — it’s a series of choices that need to hold up over time. Every tool and service offered here is designed to support that reality.
